Are you the owner of your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)? Good. If you are someone with your CBT, then you could own a CBT moped from Direct Bikes. As a trusted and respected vendor of quality scooters, we’ve worked within the industry for years. We know how hard it can be for someone to get a brand new moped on the road, which is why we work around the clock to help you get road-ready. For example, do you have the right kind of experience and license to be on the roads?
Let’s take a look at what you might need.
A CBT moped is typically either a 50cc moped or a 125cc moped. Both can be driven with a CBT, though what you can drive is dependent on your licensing and your age. For example, a CBT-suitable moped for a 16-year-old cannot be a 125cc moped. At the age of 16, you are permitted to only ride a 50cc moped.
That’s why you should take a look at our 50cc mopeds if you are under the age of 17. With a CBT rideable moped from our store, you can easily start driving around from the age of sixteen. So long as you can get insurance and tax on that ride, then you could start driving it as soon as it arrives at your door.
A CBT-suited moped, then, is very much likely to be a moped that is driven at either a 50cc or 125cc engine level.
Your CBT license means that you have a limit of what kind of speed you can do. For most riders on a CBT alone, you are capped at doing a top speed of just 28 miles per hour. At Direct Bikes, our 50cc mopeds can hit a top speed of 30mph, while our 125cc mopeds can hit a top speed of 60mph.
We recommend that you look at the speeds that you are doing with your CBT at all times. You need to stay within your speed limit, or you could risk losing your CBT in the first place. However, if you are able to pick up one of our 125cc mopeds, you could go for your full A license. This would give you the opportunity to go to the 60mph top speed that your ride allows.
The only experience that we know of when you do not need a CBT exam certificate to ride a moped is if you have your full driving license. However, this only applies if you were able to pass your full driving test before the 1st February 2001.
If you were able to pass prior to that date, then you can ride up to a 50cc moped from Direct Bikes. This would mean that you could ride it without the need to wear L plates, or to avoid having a pillion passenger. With a 50cc moped with your full driving license after the 1st February 2001, though, you would need to go and get your CBT license.
Keep that in mind before you go ahead and make a choice about what kind of ride you would like to buy first.
At Direct Bikes, we sell our CBT-ready mopeds for just £999. They start at this price, with regular sales bringing our 50cc models below the £999 mark. We also sell a variety of high-end CBT mopeds in the 125cc range, which start at only £1,099.
These are a great choice if you are looking for a reliable and professional riding experience. With enough time and experience (and your full license), a 125cc moped could easily handle driving on the motorway. Our 50cc mopeds, though, are not suited to life on the motorway. So,keep that in mind if driving on the motorway is going to be a big part of how and why you are learning to ride.
With our mopeds, though, you can easily pick up something that is ideally suited to the kind of riding that you wish to be doing. You just need to know which kind of moped you would like!
If you wish to go ahead and buy a bike from us, it really couldn’t be any easier. All that you need to do is the following:
