If you pass that, and you hold your provisional bike riding license, you can then ride a 125cc scooter.

However, you should always look to try out something a bit more methodical and slow-paced first. If you would like to skip out 50c scooters to begin with, then you should look to get your CBT and your provisional. This would give you the credentials that you need to get to grips with riding a 125cc scooter.

When are slower scooters better than fast scooters?

Typically, we recommend that anyone who is looking to do most of their driving in the city should go for a 50cc scooter. Something like the 50cc Milan offers just the kind of fuel economy that you need to scoot around town and not spend so much on petrol. If you drive a faster scooter through a city, you’ll feel limited.

For one, you cannot use anything like your top speed if you are driving around on a slower scoter. You will simply not be as fast with your scooter as you could be outside of the city. This means having to hold back quite a lot. With a 50cc scooter, though, you can benefit from a 30mph top speed suiting life in the city. Add in the fact they all have tremendous fuel economy and you can spend less driving into the city on a 50cc scooter.

Fast scooters are mostly suited for life outside of the city. Buy a slower scooter, though, and you’ll find that you spend less time and money in the city. On top of that, you’ll benefit from the automatic transmission with a 50cc engine as opposed to having to learn to manage gear changes.
